The design process of creating your dream item of clothing can be such a journey.
Come to me with your ideas and we can design that perfect item of clothing that you just can’t get out of your head. The best way to communicate your design is having a picture or drawing so that we can map out exactly what you’d like and the fit of the item to be.
Next is to create a pattern to make the item from. Don’t worry if we can’t find one pattern that suits, when it comes to custom made clothing I find that you rarely have one pattern that suits your minds creation. In my experience the correlation of multiple patterns is the way to go and if we just can’t find any that suit, have no fear, I can make one up to follow so everything is perfect.
Then its on to choose your fabric (see my last blog to find out how to choose your fabric). I will take you through my favourite places to order fabric from and discuss with you what I think will suit your garment best. From the feel, hang and thickness needed for the item. We’ll get into the nitty gritty of all things fabrics to find one that will wow.
Once we’ve got the fabric chosen I won’t use it till we are 110% sure that we have the perfect fit. I will create a mock up of your item from cotton fabric for you to try on. This way we can make any adjustments and alterations without having to worry about spoiling your gorgeous fabric.
The exciting bit!!! I’ll make any adjustments to the mock garment if needed and if not start with the creation of your dream creation.
Lastly you’ll come for your final fitting and then I’ll make any adjustments that may need to be done. If there is nothing to be altered, you can walk away with your custom made garment which I hope you love!
